ASCPCR (c) 60/ 2017 == Case from Hailakandi regarding sexual abuse of girl student by teacher and posting picture on social media

This case came to notice of the Commission after the pictures of a teacher with his minor girl student in objectionable positions went viral on social media in August 2017. The incident involved a teacher of a Girls School in Hailakandi district, under Lala P.S.

The Commission took immediate action and sent letter to Director General of Police for urgent intervention. Letters were also sent to DC Hailakandi, Mission Director AxomSarbaSikshaAbhiyan.

The teacher was arrested, and further investigation revealed that the child was forced into posing for the picture a few months ago. She was being forced for marriage by the teacher and on being refused by the parents, and the girl being married off elsewhere eventually, the teacher used the pictures with a purpose of maligning the image of the girl. He had been arrested on similar grounds a few years ago as well.
