ASCPCR observes Child Rights Day on 04/03/2018 in Guwahati, at Jagaharizon LP School, Padumpukhuri, Uzan Bazar

The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) observed Child Rights Day on 4th of March, 2018, at Jagaharizon LP School, Padumpukhuri, Uzan Bazar, Guwahati recently. The occasion coincided with the Commission’s 8th Foundation Day. The Chairperson of ASCPCR Dr. Sunita Changkakati along with renowned writer and social activist Padma Shri Eli Ahmed, the Mayor of Guwahati City Mrigen Sarania, Deputy Mayor Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Additional D. C. Of Kamrup(M) Sri Palash Pratim Baruah, members of the Commission Dr Nani Gopal Goswami, Smt Indrani Tahmildar and Smt Rupa Hazarika were present on the occasion.

Chairperson Dr Sunita Changkakati spoke on the importance of awareness among children on child rights, and appealed to the gathering at Harijan Colony to protect the rights of children along with safeguarding their right to education. The chairperson also mentioned about Guwahati Municipal Corporation coming up with ‘Pink Toilet’ for young girls and women in the city with recommendations of the Commission.
