VISIT to “SAROTHI”CHILD CARE INSTITUTION’ NALBARI DISTRICT

A team of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, led by Chairperson Dr. Sunita Changkakati and District Child protection Unit Nalbari, visited the Child Care Institution named “SAROTHI” at Gopal Bazar Nalbari District on 2nd February 2018, with the objective of inspecting the status of child care institute, review the services and the implementation of the provisions as mentioned in appropriate Acts.

Observation of the Commission

The team found that the “SAROTHI” Child Care Institute was registered under Juvenile Justice (Child Care and Protection) Act 2015, in SCPS, Assam, but was not adhering to most of the mandate given in the appropriate Acts.

There was also a day care center there for specially abled children, but no separate facilities for boys and girls. The place was congested and not comfortable for the children.

Recommendations

The  Commission recommended that the CCI should separate the Day Care center. Separate accommodation for boys and girls and no discrimination among the children. Extra facilities fro the specially abled children.
