Visit to CCIs, AWCs and schools in in Sivsagar and Charaideo districts on September 9, 2017

1. Visit to CCIs, Ahana at Joysagar in Sivsagar district

The CCI run by an NGO, Kumudalaya, is registered under the JJ Act and has 17 occupants.

Findings:
• Monthly health reports, quarterly progress reports, case histories and birth certificates have been maintained well.
• No Individual Care plan, as shortage of manpower.
• Lack of transparency in maintaining accounts related records, like donations, and utilization of grants etc.
• Social Investigation Report for any child has not been completed and presented to CWC.
• There is lack of play material for the children. No facility for physiotherapy and also the furniture not child friendly.


2. Visit to Pathamari LP School at Lakwa in Charaideo district near Sibsagar.

Number of Students: 51
Number of teachers: 7

Findings:
1. The Uniform and books for the students provided by SSA.
2. The school has only an In charge headmaster.
3. The furniture in the classrooms are not in good condition.
4. There is no playground in the school.
5. No proper place for maintaining records and files in the school premises.
6. Attendance registers for students of all classes not maintained properly.
7. The school building has an attached kitchen for preparation of midday meals.


3. Visit to Patharmuri Anganwadi Centre at Lakwa in Charaideo District, under the ICDS Project.

Beneficiaries:
6 Children between the age group 6 months to 3 years.
32 Children between the age group 3 years to 6 years.
4 Pregnant women and 5 nursing mothers.

Findings:
• Food is supplied to the beneficiaries.
• Immunization of the children and pregnant mothers is one of the major activities.
• Up to 6 months the beneficiary is registered under the mother and from 6 months as children.
• Rs. 2 allotted per child per day for breakfast.
• School Bags and flasks give to 10 beneficiaries.
• ASHA workers and ANM from nearby villages visit the center for regular medical care of beneficiaries.
• Center has enough study related material for children but lacks any play material.
• No playground at the building premises.
• Toilets and hygiene at the center maintained well.
• Kitchen room is not in a functional condition.
