    A team of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights consisting of Members, Shri Ajoy Kumar Dutta, Smt. Mridusmita Dutta and Smt. Rilanjana Talukdar conducted a monitoring visit to Jorhat district from 27th and 28th of August 2024.

    During the visit, the team undertook inspections of critical healthcare facilities in the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatric Ward and Gynaecological Ward. The team also visited the Observation Home for Boys in Jorhat and the Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) run by Swaraj, NGO.

    The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Bhaktimay Bhattacharya, Officer for AIDS Control, Tobacco, and Tuberculosis Control, Shri Kritartha Neog, Assistant Commissioner, Jorhat and Smt. Rizwana Tasmin Hazarika, District Child Protection Officer, Jorhat. The team held discussions with Dr. Ratna Kanta Talukdar, Principal of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, to assess the current status of child related healthcare services in the hospital.

    Further, the Commission’s team convened a meeting at the Conference Hall of Circuit House, Jorhat which was attended by Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), ADC, Jorhat, DSP, Joint Director of Health Services, Assistant Commissioner, jorhat District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Members of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and Child Welfare Committee (CWC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Labour Officer and Inspectors, District Programme Coordinator, SSA; Child Helpline representatives and Executive Officers from the Municipal Boards, Jorhat.
