Today on 20th of June 2025, I as the Member of Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited two Government Schools (Dispur Govt High School and Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary school) and a Rehabilitation Centre to have a cordial discussion with the Principal, Teacher and owner and after cares of the Rehab Centre in Guwahati on Narcotics and Substance Abuse.
Drug addiction has become a pervasive issue affecting individuals of all ages, including students within the educational system. As a crucial setting for the personal and intellectual development of young people, schools have a responsibility to address the problem of drug addiction by implementing comprehensive awareness programs. These programs play a vital role in educating students about the dangers of substance abuse, fostering a supportive environment, and empowering them to make informed decisions.
Early Intervention and Prevention is the need of the hour to make our beloved Nation a " Nasha Mukt Bharat".
