On the occasion of the 12th State Child Protection Day and the 15th Foundation Day of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, a programme was organised in the Conference Hall of the State Commission for Women, Assam which was preceded by the flag hoisting ceremony in the Office premises of the Commission.

The flag hoisting was done by Dr. Shyamal Saikia, IPS (Retd.), Chairperson, ASCPCR in the presence of all the Members and Staff of the Commission.

After the inaugural meeting, Dr. Saikia addressed the media personnel. During his speech, Dr. Saikia, expressed his gratitude to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for the path breaking and stern action taken by him in eradicating Child Marriage and giving the opportunity to the ASCPCR team to work collectively for furthering his mission towards strengthening the foundation of Child Protection mechanism in the State.

Dr. Saikia also reflected on the achievements of the Commission from Jan 2024 to Dec 2024.

To mark the observance of the occasion, a documentary produced by the Commission focusing on the vulnerabilities of cyber crime among the teenagers was also screened.

Dr. Saikia in his concluding speech once again expressed his gratefulness to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for sanctioning Rs. 2 Crores for the construction of a new permanent Office Building of the Assam State Commision for Protection of Child Rights. He also offered his thankfulness to the Hon’ble Minister, Women & Child Development, Smt. Ajanta Neog for extending her support to the Commission.
