    On 25.09.2024, an awareness programme was held at Lakhimandir, Simla Bazar under Jalah ICDS Project, Baksa District, Assam to mark the occasion of 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2024. The programme was organised by the District Administration, Baksa District in collaboration with the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The programme was chaired by Smt. Rilanjana Talukdar, Member, ASCPCR. The awareness programme focused on the importance of Child and Maternal Health & Nutrition which included topics like exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, importance of nutrition in the first 1000 days of a child's life, locally available food, ill-effects of junk food, importance of timely vaccinations and so on.

    Other esteemed dignitaries present in the event were- Shri Mantu Boro, Hon'ble MCLA, Koklabari, Shri Jitu Barman, ACS, ADC (Women & Child Development), Smt. Mrigakshi Sarma, ACS, Asst. Commissioner, Dr. Ruplekha Kalita, Asstt. Professor, GMCH, Dr. Diganta Barman, Asstt Professor, GMCH, Shri Simanta Pradip Choudhury, District Social Welfare Officer, Shri Tridip Sarma, Dy. Chief of Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Shri Rajib Brahma, District Coordinator(POSHAN) and the team of District Child Protection Unit, Baksa.

    The public meeting was attended by CDPOs, AWWs, pregnant and lactating mothers, adolescent girls and children. In addition to the public meeting, an anaemia screening and growth monitoring camp along with an exhibition of locally available and culturally accepted nutritious vegetables and various food items was also on display to celebrate the occasion of the POSHAN MAAH.
