    On 15th Oct 2024, Dr. Shyamal Prasad Saikia, IPS (Retd.), Hon'ble Chairperson of ASCPCR was invited as the Chief Guest to an inception meeting of the Family United Programme- a pilot project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime which was organised by Recovery Wellness Society in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment at Hotel Royale De Casa, Beltola, Guwahati.

    The other distinguished dignitaries who were present in the programme are Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Manta, ACS, Director of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Sanjay Singh, Psychiatrist and De-addiction Specialist and Ms. Priyanka Bhattacharjee, Clinical Psychologist and Research Coordinator.

    The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Family United Programme is an esteemed initiative aimed at strengthening family bonds and promoting healthier outcomes for children, adolescents, and caregivers. This programme is specifically designed for developing countries, where vulnerable communities face heightened risks related to substance abuse, violence, and family instability. By equipping families with practical skills, the programme helps prevent harmful behaviours and promotes long term resilience.
