Smt. Mousumi Brahma
Introduction
Mrs. Mousumi Brahma is a distinguished social worker & cultural activist, with an MA in Social Anthropology whose exemplary contributions span over four decades. Her unwavering commitment to societal development and cultural enrichment is reflected in her active involvement with more than twelve esteemed social and cultural organizations at both state and national levels, where she has held prominent positions such as Joint Secretary and Secretary.
She has been a member in Jyotirupa, a cultural organization founded by late Radha Govinda Baruah, and currently serves as Joint Secretary at Pragjyotish Sanskritik Samaj along with being a Trustee Member of ITA Machkhowa, an esteemed institution chaired by the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam. Mrs. Brahma has also made significant contributions as Joint Secretary of the Association for Social Health in India (ASHI), a national NGO, and as a member of the Assam Natya Sanmilan Mahanagar Sakha. In addition to her cultural and administrative roles, Mrs. Brahma is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment and child development. Through her organization, Manuhe Manuhor Baabe, she extended critical support to approximately 10,000 individuals in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A prolific poet and freelance writer, Mrs. Brahma's literary contributions have been featured in leading Assamese dailies. She has also served as a member of the editorial team for Oitijya Barta, a magazine published under the Heritage Foundation. Furthermore, she holds lifetime memberships in prestigious organizations such as the Assam Satra Maha Sabha and the Assam Sahitya Sabha, underscoring her dedication to the preservation and promotion of Assamese culture and literature.
